Part of the series for London Pride, but never seen before. Mike’s respect for those who work on the Thames waterway is born from his working class routes and original trips into London as a youth. The romance of the river has always been within him. He depicts a legendary lighterman Pete who he originally photographed in the 1960s and couples him with Mike’s beloved companion Molly (entitled Jacky here). The beautiful soft, sombre palette captures the London landscape as the evening turns into night. A melancholy narrative.
