About Mike Francis

Mike Francis 9 th May 1938 – 1 st June 2023

After spending his early life as one of London’s most talented illustrators Mike won the 1974 National Portrait Gallery’s 150 th Anniversary Poster Competition as the only contemporary painter to have ever won it. This was the catalyst that inspired Mike to become a freelance artist in his own right. He spent the next 15 years with the Nicolas Treadwell Gallery, pioneering the Superhumanist Art Movement in London and showing his paintings all over the world with a significant collector’s list. Throughout the 1990’s and 2000’s Mike continued to exhibit with Whitford Fine Art in Jermyn Street, Messums in Cork Street, Panter and Hall in Pall Mall and Plus One Gallery in Chelsea to secure his status as one of the country’s principle realist painters of the 20th and 21st Centuries.

He continued to paint up until the final year of his life, producing over 5000 works, principally Oil and Acrylic paintings on Canvas. His style is highly recognisable, fusing his skills as a commercial illustrator to build narrative representations of various lived characters, dreams, places and feelings.

With Mike’s passing recently, there is now the unique opportunity to own a Limited Edition Hanemuhle Fine Art print of some of his most popular works.

About Our Prints

We use the finest Hahnemühle Art Canvas for our canvas prints.

The Art Canvas Smooth is a natural white, poly-cotton canvas and guarantees archival standards.

With Mike’s images using a vivid, rich and bright colour palette the Hahnemühle Art Canvas Smooth meets the highest industry standards regarding density, colour gamut, colour graduation and image sharpness.

Printing Process

We use UV-stable inks to minimise print fading. Additionally, each canvas print we provide is coated with a UV and water-resistant top coat. This coating seals the ink and canvas, offering protection not only against sun damage and moisture but also against airborne contaminants.

All of our prints are carried out using UV stable pigment inks. These inks typically last much longer and are more resistant to fading than non-UV stable inks. This helps to preserve the quality of your art for decades to come.
